The nettle was clothing, rope, sail, food, medicine. Then it became a weed. The craft that was passed down for generations is now slowly dying out.

This project follows the plant back. Every part of it: fibre, thatch, pigment, the parts the old practice used and the parts it discarded - is brought into a small family of household objects. Nothing from the plant is wasted. Nothing from the knowledge is invented.

What is interesting here is not the material. It is what it took to forget it. A whole intelligence about how to live with one common, abundant, available organism - was let go in less than a generation.
